ABOUT US

THE UKZN STUDENT LAW REVIEW IS ENTIRELY STUDENT-CENTRIC. WE ARE RUN BY STUDENTS, FOR THE SAKE OF STUDENTS.

OUR BEGINNINGS

The University of KwaZulu-Natal Student Law Review (UKZN SLR) is a student led initiative that was started in 2012 by six students at the Howard College Campus. Five students from the Pietermaritzburg Campus joined in, making the team representative of both campuses. The editorial team is made up of students across all levels of study.

The student management and editorial team is closely assisted by the Managing Editor, who is an academic member of staff. Advising and guiding the student editors in the running and management of the SLR is a team of 10 academic staff members who together form the Academic Advisory Board.

PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

The UKZN Law Review has no particular area of focus, and it is in fact our intention that our articles cover a broad variety of topics stretching a number of areas of law.

We intend to create a platform for our undergraduate and postgraduate law students at both the Pietermaritzburg and Howard College campuses to write articles, case notes and book reviews that will be published in the law review and that will help them develop as legal professionals, scholars and academics.

We will also accept contributions from students from other law schools, those serving articles, and even attorneys. Academic staff will also be permitted to make regular contributions to the law review.
