Former Editor-in-Chief honoured with UKZN Distinguished Student Award
Former Editor-in-Chief Musa Kika has been awarded the UKZN Distinguished Student award, one of the highest honours that can be bestowed on a student in recognition of outstanding academic performance and community engagement or university service.
The UKZN Student Law Review is extremely proud to boast of the achievements of last year’s Editor-in-Chief. Musa Kika was awarded the UKZN Distinguished Students’ Award, a great honour bestowed upon only two awardees each year.
The award is based on nominations from staff or students in the University, and recognises and rewards outstanding academic achievement together with excellence in community engagement or University service as reflected in the vision, mission and goals of the University.
Two awards are made to the most talented, caring and exceptional graduates and young leaders from final year undergraduate or honours level who have been judged as being most exemplary in embodying the ideals and attributes that the University seeks to create in every graduate.
We are extremely proud of Musa, who is currently enrolled at the University of Cape Town, where he is reading for a master’s degree in Public Law. He is a Research Assistant at the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit.
After completing his master’s, he hopes to pursue his studies abroad, should the opportunity arise. Otherwise, he aims to return to Harare to practice. In practice, he will focus on constitutional law, administrative law and human rights.
Musa graduated last year summa cum laude, is a SA Brightest Young Minds Alumnus, a Mandela Scholar and a former research clerk for Justice Malcolm Wallis.
Well done, Musa!
